A Rukhkh is a large mythical creature located deep with in the Blue Djinn's Iravotum. During John's travels across the Iravotum to rescue Philippa, he encounters the Rukhkh. In the form of rottweilers, Alan and Neil Gaunt bite the Rukhkh's legs to protect John, but they don't let go. They fell to the ground, soon killing them. Layla later revealed that their heroic acts were not in vain. Their binding transformation only lasted as long as their physical bodies as dogs. That meant the human forms of Alan and Neil were able to survive.
