The Atlas Mountains is a mountain range that stretches across much of Africa. It is the home of James Burton in the sixth book. Due to his role of a fakir, he must separate himself from worldly things and he chose his residence upon the mountains. For most of the seasons, it is extremely cold and difficult to use djinn power as mentioned by Philippa. Because of its rough terrain, they chose to fly up on flying carpet to reach its summit.
